Pretty Little Studio: It's Your Birthday Trio

Saturday, April 7, 2018

Welcome to the weekend, y'all!  I cannot believe that we're already at the end of the first week in April!  Where does the time go?!  In my family, April means A LOT of birthdays.  So, Claudia van Rooijen's brand-new It's Your Birthday Collection couldn't have arrived on the scene at a better time.  With that said, I've got a trio of cards, using this very collection and that happen to be up on the Pretty Little Studio blog, to share with you all, today.  Enjoy!
Even though I've used many of the same elements on all three cards, let's get down to the nitty-gritty of each one.
I started this card by anchoring a piece of the Birthday 16 patterned print, to the white, cardstock, card face, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I then tucked a hand-cut, pennant-shaped piece of Birthday 20 Vellum under a strip of the Birthday 50 patterned paper and secured them both, across the top of the card face, with more silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I then began layering my embellishments, beginning with an open, die-cut, cork star; which I stapled in a few places even though the cork had adhesive backing.  Love a little, extra dose of texture wherever I can get it!  The star was topped with a Cookies Shipping Tag, backed with a snippet of cheesecloth; laced with a length of white string, tied in a bow; and topped with a "let's eat cake" Eat Cake Word Die Cut, popped up with foam tape.
A "celebrate" Shine Bright Die Cut grounds the design; and a scattering of Shine Bright and Eat Cake star die cuts, as well as a healthy dose of silver, star sequins, completes the look.
This second card was made with my niece, who will be turning 18-years-old in just over a week, in mind.
I started her card by anchoring a piece of the Birthday 50 print, to the white, cardstock, card face, with silver-threaded, straight and zig-zag, machine stitching.  I then anchored a die-cut, from a piece of the Birthday 20 Vellum, open star, with more of that same stitching, near center of the design.  A Cookies Shipping Tag was backed with a snippet of cheesecloth; laced with a length of white string, tied in a bow; and adhered, just left of horizontal center, with foam tape.  A "birthday girl" Happy Day Color Sticker was stuck fast near the top of tag...
while Wood Veneer By the Numbers numbers were secured near its center.  A happy mix of die-cut cork, silver sequin, and Eat Cake Die-Cut stars complete the look.
For the third and final card...
I anchored a piece of the Birthday 17 print, as well as a die-cut, from more of that fabulous, Birthday 20 Vellum, star, to the white, cardstock, card face, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  A couple of die-cut, cork stars were stuck fast, using their adhesive backing as well as staples, to prep the card face for the Cookies Shipping Tag.  Before it was adhered with foam tape, a Sweet Treats Cut-Apart Label was stapled to its bottom, left edge.  It was also backed with a snippet of cheesecloth and laced with white string, tied in a bow.
A "party time" Party Hat Word Flag, anchored, at its left end, with a button, laced with white string, creates the main sentiment.  I also threw in a couple of Happy Day Color Stickers and an Eat Cake Word Die Cut, popped up with foam tape.  A scattering of Eat Cake Word Die-Cut and silver, sequin stars completes the look.
Don't you just adore all those soft hues?!  And I'm lovin' that this collection works for both genders.  Well, that does it for now, folks.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Now, get out there and make your weekends creative ones.  XOXO
