Paper Sweeties May Release Rewind

Wednesday, May 15, 2019

Hey, y'all!  It's the third and final day of Paper Sweeties' May Release week; and before you're off to picking up some new goodies, if you haven't done so already, I'd love to share one last project with you all.
I started this card by masking and stamping the clouds, from Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and tree, from Home Is Where Your Story Begins, in Jet Black ink, on a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of watercolor paper.  I then watercolored the entire piece, along with additional strips of punched, grass, and added lots of Clear Wink of Stella to the clouds before securing everything, to a piece of Wisteria Wonder cardstock, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitching and popping it off the surface of the white, cardstock, card face with foam tape.
The camper image, from Truck Add-On: Life Is An Adventure, was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a piece of watercolor paper.  The design on the image came from the florals in Basket Add-On: Thinking of You and a bit of a tie-die, watercolor wash.  The remainder of the elements used to form the camper, which was hand-cut out and popped up, with foam tape, between the layers of watercolored grass, were die-cut, from cardstock and patterned prints respectively, using the Truck Add-On: Life Is An Adventure Sweet Cuts die.  A pretty, little package, watercolored in gold and doused in Clear Wink of Stella, was placed on the stoop of the camper.  The sign was stamped, in Crumb Cake ink, on a die cut, from woodgrain, patterned paper, using the Basket Add-On: Thinking of You Sweet Cuts die, and stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "#party" sentiment from Hugs & Kisses.
The balloon trio, also from Hugs & Kisses, was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on watercolor paper die cuts; watercolored; popped up, in their respective position, with more foam tape; and dressed up with lot of Clear Wink of Stella, as well as a little Glossy Accents, to complete the look.  Oh!  And I don't want to forget to mention that a number of the elements here looked a little too "fresh" or "bright" for my liking; so I brushed over them with a little, Titanium White, acrylic paint on a dry brush just to soften or distress them a bit.
Without further adieu, here are the fabulous newbies we've been talking about all week.  Just click on the images below to take you right to them.

There you have it, folks!  Thanks so much for stopping by and for supporting my creative adventures every step of the way.  This is my final project as a member of the Paper Sweeties Design Team.  I'm ever so grateful to have had the opportunity to serve on such a talented team and for such an extraordinary owner.  My heart is simply being pulled in a number of other directions that, at this time, happen to not be papercrafty in nature.  I promise to share what I can; but for privacy reasons, I simply won't be as active in many social avenues.  I'm not leaving entirely, though.  Creating is in my blood.  So, I will, no doubt, continue to be posting projects right here on my blog and trust that you will continue to follow along with wherever this life may take me.  Bye for now!  Thanks again, and be blessed!

Pretty Little Studio: Date Night

Morning, y'all!  It's been a long time; but I'm up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today, sharing a page inspired by Claudia vanRooijen's gorgeous, new collection, Shine Bright.  Enjoy!
I started this page by adding gesso to the Just Let Go 12x12 patterned paper background.  Once it was dry, I added puddles of three different colors of blue watercolor and used those same shades of blue watercolor, as well as pink watercolor and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints, to splatter over everything.  That set the stage for my triangles, which were Cameo-cut, using Kristine Davidson's It's Not a Circle cut file, from a collection of Shine Bright 6x6 Paper Pack prints and anchored with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.
They were then topped with my photo, which was matted with white cardstock; backed with a snippet of cheesecloth for that scrumptious texture you all know I love so much; and sandwiched between two clusters of Simply Floral Die Cuts.  The grouping to the bottom right of the photo also includes a camera (Gosh, I adore that gorgeous camera!  I need a dozen of them right now ;).), arrow, and tassel from the Chasing Dreams Die-Cut package, as well as a length of white string, tied in a bow, and a "date night" Sweetheart Mini Word, which happens to serve as my title.
The second, Simply Floral Die-Cut grouping additionally encompasses an April 2019 Freebie butterfly (I hope you scooped up one for yourself last month.) and a Lovely Flair Button.
One more Simply Floral Die-Cut, popped up with foam tape; a couple of Chasing Dreams Die-Cut triangles; a Silver Cut-Apart Label, used to house the place, Melting Pot, and day, February 5, 2016, that the photo was taken; and scattering of Crystal 4mm and Rose Pink Sequins complete the look.
Before I run, I also wanted to make you aware of a few great grabs happening this month over at Pretty Little Studio.  A FREE sheet of stickers will be added to carts containing the purchase of 10 individual sticker sheets.
It's Your Birthday Collection embellishments are 50% off throughout the month of May...
and while you're picking up some of those goodies, the May Cut-Apart Sheet Freebie will be added to your carts.
If your totals happen to contain $35 or more worth of products, the May Cloud Die-Cut Freebies will be added to your carts, too.  Woohoo!  LOVE these!
I think that covers things, for now, folks.  Thanks, as always, for visiting, and have a wonderful Wednesday!

Paper Sweeties May Release Party

Tuesday, May 14, 2019

Welcome, friends!  I promised to be back today with a project inspired by one of the new, Paper Sweeties, May Release, stamp sets, Truck Add-On: Life Is An Adventure; and I'm here now to deliver.  Enjoy!
I started this project by stamping the camper image, in Jet Black ink, on a white, cardstock die cut and paper-piecing all the colorful bits and baubles.  The little bird...
as well as the trees from Home Is Where Your Story Begins and Merry Christmas Y'all, were created in the exact same way as the camper itself.  Everything was then popped off a blue speckled print, which had been anchored, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitching, to the white, cardstock, card face, with foam tape.
The "You make me a HAPPY CAMPER" sentiment was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, just above the camper; and a length of Baker's Twine was wrapped, three times, around the top edge of the card and tied, in a bow, just to the right of the stamped sentiment, for a little extra texture.  A trio of silver stars and kisses of Glossy Accents, used throughout the design for shine and dimension, complete the look.
Thanks, once again, for visiting, y'all!  Be sure to do the same for the rest of this talented Design Team, and we'll all see you back, at the same time and places, for one final day of projects, inspired by the May Release, tomorrow.  Until then, have a wonderful Wednesday!

Paper Sweeties May Release Sneak Peek

Monday, May 13, 2019

Evening, y'all; and welcome to the work week!  I'm thrilled to be here today, sharing a project made for Paper Sweeties' May Release week.  Debbie has designed two new stamp sets, Basket Add-On: Thinking of You and Truck Add-On: Life Is An Adventure, and their coordinating dies to wet your creative appetites this month.  So, let's just jump right in to how Thinking of You inspired me.  Shall we?
I started this card by stamping a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of watercolor paper, in Antique Linen Distress Ink, with the gorgeous row of blossoms, masking and layer-stamping as I went.  I then watercolored the entire piece before topping it with a torn, across its bottom edge, strip of vellum, stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "Thinking of you" sentiment.
In turn, that torn and stamped piece of vellum was then topped with a strip of silver, glitter paper, as well as a stamped, in London Fog Distress Ink, with that same stunning row of blooms image, once again, masking and layer-stamping to complete an entire row, strip of Bordering Blue cardstock.
The entire prepped piece was then anchored, to a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of white cardstock, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  A length of white string was wrapped, three times, around the stitched piece, between the stamped, cardstock strip and the silver, glitter, paper strip and tied, in a bow, just right of vertical center.  Everything was then adhered, to the white, cardstock, card face, with foam tape.  A quartet of clear gemstones completes the look.
I'd love to have you join me again at the same time tomorrow to see how I was inspired by Life Is An Adventure.  Between now and then, please be sure to stop by and see what the rest of the team has cooked up for your viewing pleasure.  Thanks, as always, for humbling me with a visit, friends!  Be blessed!

Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Friday, May 3, 2019

Morning, y'all!  I have a busy weekend scheduled; but before all the crazy begins, I wanted to pop in to share a little, coffee creation in participation, with the Paper Sweeties Design Team, in the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.
I started this card by white-embossing a number of coffee-crazy sentiments onto a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Always Artichoke cardstock.  I'm not loving the coverage and/or stick-ability factor of this powder by Zing! and would LOVE to know which brands you all would recommend.  I hate throwing money down the drain.  Please share in the comments below.
I then smudged it with a little, white ink just for a little more of a realistic, chalkboard-like look; framed it with white cardstock and silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching...
and wrapped it with a length of Paper Sweeties' Tea seam binding ribbon, tied in a double bow and embellished with an ivory button, laced with Baker's Twine, tied in a bow.  Debbie has the best seam binding ribbon EVER, folks!  Be sure to check out her assortment in the shop.
The entire prepped piece and a glitter paper, Oval Scallop Sweet Cuts frame were then popped up, with foam tape, off the surface of the white, cardstock, card face and just below the embellished ribbon respectively.  I wish you all could see that glittery frame better here.  It is so striking in real life.  It was used to house a Coffee, Yes Please Sweet Cuts travel mug, die-cut from a pretty, floral print; white cardstock; and vellum.  The coffee beans and flower were stamped, in Jet Black ink, on their coordinating Sweet Cuts dies and watercolored.  All of the framed elements were popped up with foam tape; and the coffee beans were given a dose of shine, with Glossy Accents, to complete the look.
Link up your coffee, tea, and/or cocoa projects at the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog for your chance to win a heap of fabulous prizes.  Paper Sweeties is offering a stamp and die set of the flash prize winner's choice...
AND a super sponsor prize of $25 to spend in the Paper Sweeties shop.  Woohoo!
Debbie is also having a 25% off site-wide Event Sale with coupon code SPRINGCOFFEE, as well as hosting her own challenge, during the hop, worth a $50 shopping spree in the online shop.  Simply add your coffee-themed projects to our Facebook group and/or Instagram.  You do not have to use Paper Sweeties products on your projects but will earn bonus points for doing so.
You can't beat that, friends!  Cannot wait to see what you all cook up!  Good luck with all the fabulous prizes, and have a great weekend!

For the Love of Books

Tuesday, April 30, 2019

Afternoon, y'all!  I'm popping in to share a favorite, new book of ours, which just so happened to be in my littlest's Easter basket earlier this month.  He has taken to reading about as easy as he took to riding his two-wheel bike, so I thought it would be a fitting share for this month's For the Love of Books pick.  It is written for children ages three to five and, no doubt, will be quite familiar to those of you who love children's books as much as I do; as it is only one in a series that has gained notoriety on the New York Times Best Sellers list and, more recently, been adapted into a children's television series.
In Llama Llama Loves to Read, written by beloved author Anna Dewdney and her partner Reed Duncan and illustrated by JT Morrow, Llama Llama learns to do just that.  From letters and words to sentences and stories, Llama Llama gets rhythmical at school to discover the magic of learning new sounds, songs, and signs from the 26 letters of the alphabet.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy reading, friends!

Pretty Little Studio: Wild Thing

Sunday, April 28, 2019

Morning, y'all!  Happy Sunday!  I'm super excited to share, with you all, the sweet, birthday card, that I recently made for my nephew.  It happens to be up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today; and believe it or not, this tiny canvas utilizes elements from seven different collections.  Check it out!

I started his card by anchoring a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of an old, Pretty Little Studio, black and white, polka dot print, to the white, cardstock, card face, with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I then set it aside to trim the bottom of a Just Relax 3x4 Pocket Card with a portion of a woodgrain Shine 4x6 Card.  Their combined edges were framed with more gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching; and their connection was wrapped, three times, with a length of white string, tied in a bow.
It was then popped off the surface of the prepped, card surface with foam tape and topped with the precious Amos Cowboy Vintage Die Cut, popped up with more foam tape.
A Cactus Die Cut, which had a Fall Away Arrow shot right into its pot, was tucked behind the cowboy's left side.
His right side was topped with "HAPPY DAYS" Feeling Blessed and "BIRTHDAY BOY" Party Hat Word Flag Cut-Aparts, as well as a "wild thing" Good Things Black Word Sticker, which I used as the main sentiment for this creation.
A kiss of Glossy Accents gives a little, extra shine and dimension to the apple; and a trio of Spain Star Die Cuts complete the look.
Thanks so much for humbling me with a visit!  Have a blessed week, friends!

Pretty Little Studio: The Best Is Yet To Come

Wednesday, April 17, 2019

Happy Wednesday, y'all!  It's been a crazy busy week in my neck of the woods, and I feel like it's just getting started.  So, I'm going to jump right into the reason for today's post.  I've got a couple of masculine cards up on the Pretty Little Studio blog this am.  Guy cards are ever so difficult for me; but I'm really liking the way these particular ones, made with my dad's and my brother's birthdays in mind, turned out.  Enjoy!
I started these cards by anchoring 2-1/2" x 5-1/2" pieces of one of the Bohemian Dreams 6x6 Paper Pack prints, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches, against the right sides of my white, cardstock, card faces.  I also added a little additional, black stitching to the left sides of the card faces for added interest and secured a couple of 3x4 Crisp Air Pocket Cards, with even more stitching, in the centers of each.  I then used Bohemian Dreams 2x4 Paper Pack prints to create tags, which were backed with cheesecloth and popped up, with foam tape, over the pocket cards, simply by hole-punching their top centers and framing them with rings, die-cut from other 2x4 Paper Pack prints.
I don't remember if my stamping went wrong or if I didn't care for the print on the bottom half of this particular tag.  Either way, it was replaced with half of another 2x4 print.  The top half was stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "THE Best IS YET TO COME" sentiment...
and laced with white string, tied in a bow...
which trails down to hold a couple of Feather Die Cuts, popped up with foam tape.
The "PERFECT DAY TO DREAM" Stories & Tales Word Sticker was popped up with foam tape in the bottom half of the tag and anchored, at its left end, with a Fall Memories Flair Button.  A Fall Away Arrow Die Cut, popped up with foam tape, and trio of blue sequins, from the Falling Leaves Sequin Mix, complete the look.
I went with the exact same look for the second card.
Of course, I swapped out the previous, Bohemian Dreams 2x4 Paper Pack tag for another, leaving this one just as it was.  It was stamped in the same way as above...
and laced with another length of white string, tied in a bow, through yet another pretty print, die-cut in the shape of a ring.
It's long end, just like the one above, holds a couple more Feather Die Cuts, popped up with foam tape.
I used another Stories & Tales Word Sticker to add the secondary, "HAVE FAITH IN YOUR DREAMS" sentiment, anchored, at its left end, with a Fall Favorites Flair Button.  Another Fall Away Arrow Die Cut and the same trio of blue, Falling Leaves Sequin Mix sequins complete the look.
Thanks, as always, for visiting on this busy, posting week!  Be blessed!
