Pretty Little Studio: One in a Melon!

Saturday, September 14, 2019

Morning, y'all!  Just stopping back in, on this gorgeous, sunny day, to share another summer-inspired page for Pretty Little Studio.  It happens to be up on the blog this am; and I always love to share my creations with you all here, too.  Enjoy!
I started this page by adding puddles of bright pink and yellow watercolors to the 12" x 12" watercolor paper, base page.  I then splattered it with those same shades of watercolor, as well as navy, aqua, and orange watercolors and Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paints, and stamped it, in Jet Black ink, with the grid background.  The watermelon was Cameo-cut from our Bee Happy, Sunny Day, and Laugh All Day prints, each of which happens to come from a different collection, as well as Basic Black cardstock, and anchored with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I don't know if you can it in these pics, but I also made those seeds shine with Glossy Accents.  I then topped it with a favorite, summer photo of my beautiful girl, which was matted with white cardstock and backed with the Pineapple Juice, Picnic, Hey Girl!, and More Summer, as well as Sand Rose Gold Metallic, prints, some of which were simply torn to the right size.  I just love the texture that tearing a piece of paper creates.  An At the Beach Die-Cut label, etched with Aug. 2015, Be still my heart., was tucked in the paper layers along the left side of the photo.
The cluster over the top, left corner of the photo consists of a Bloom Die Cut, "you are one in a melon." Time to Relax Die Cut, and a Summertime Flair Button, all of which were popped up with layers of foam tape.
A duo of Best Days Die Cuts, paired with a "you are so cute" Summer Vibe Word Sticker...
turn our attention to the "one in a melon!" title, which was Cameo-cut from Basic Black cardstock...
and topped with an "adventures" Best Days Die Cut, popped up with foam tape, to complete the look.
I hope you all are having as much fun with the new, summer collections as I am!  Thanks, as always, for humbling me with a visit!  Have an amazing day, friends!

Pretty Little Studio: Summer Fun

Tuesday, September 3, 2019

Welcome to the work week, y'all!  I hope you all had wonderful weekends!  It was so nice to have a little longer of a weekend for the Labor Day holiday here in the states; although, mine was super busy and went far too fast.  I could really use just one more day to catch up and reset.  Beggars can't be choosers, though; so, I'm hitting the ground running and praying that I get to sleep at some point.  Anyhow, I know that you didn't come here to read of my woes; so let's jump right into today's share.  It happens to be up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today and was inspired by the gorgeous, new Chasing the Sun and Fun in the Sun collections.  Enjoy!
I stared this page by adding bright pink, yellow, and teal watercolor puddles to the 12" x 12" watercolor, paper, base page.  Once it was dry, I stamped it, in Jet Black ink, with the honeycomb design and splattered everything with the same shades of watercolor used for the puddles, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paints.  My photo was then set atop a trio of Chasing the Sun 6x6 Paper Pack prints, all anchored with black-threaded, straight, machine stitching, as well as a snippet of cheesecloth for texture and sandwiched between clusters of Bloom Die Cuts, some of which were popped up with foam tape.  The top, left corner was additionally embellished with a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a watercolor, paper die cut; watercolored; and glittered bumble bee, popped up with more foam tape.
The bottom, right corner...
was also dressed up with a couple of Orange Soda Tag Die Cuts, one of which was laced with white string, tied in a bow (I also popped a "LET'S GO" Photo Shoot Die Cut up off its surface, just for a little more dimension over the original.); smaller, stamped, bumble bee, prepared in the same was as the larger one above...
"FUN IN THE SUN" At the Beach Die Cut; Sunshine Flair Button beach ball; and Time to Relax Die-Cut sunglasses, which were given a kiss of shine with Glossy Accents.
The "SUMMER FUN" title was created with Sunset Word Die Cuts; topped with "LIVE IN THE SUNSHINE" and "family" Best Days Word Die Cuts, popped up with foam tape; and anchored with a "best days" Sunset Word Die Cut.  I squeezed in a sweet, Fly a Kite Die-Cut strawberry...
as well as one last stamped, watercolored, and glittered bumble bee, for good measure.
I think that covers things, folks.  Can't wait to see what you all are cooking up with these collections!  Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a fabulous week!

Pretty Little Studio: Summer Baptisms

Thursday, August 29, 2019

Morning, friends!  Just popping in to share a playful, new page that happens to be up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today.  It was inspired by the lazy, hazy days of summer and Maryam Perez's new Fun in the Sun Collection.  Enjoy!
I started this page by using some of the lines of the Roam Black & White 12x12 background page to stitch the same pattern into the background with yellow, embroidery floss, tying off a few of the ends, to the front of the page, in bows.  My "summer BAPTISMS" title was created from a "summer" Best Days Die Cut and Gold Metallic A to Z Die Cuts to form the word "BAPTISMS".
The title itself was then topped with a collection of die cuts, all of which were popped up with foam tape, from the At the Beach Die-Cuts package.  The sun pennant was also stapled to the left side of the word bubble.
Beginning in the top, left quadrant of my photograph grid, I backed my photo, which was also matted with white cardstock, as were all of the photographs you see here, with the Picnic print, anchored with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching, as well as a snippet of cheesecloth for texture.  The photo's bottom left corner was anchored with a "happy times come and go, but memories stay forever." Time to Relax Die Cut, as well as a "YOU ARE ONE IN A MELON" Best Days Die Cut, both of which were popped up with foam tape.
The top, right quadrant houses a Highlights Pocket Card, which I used to etch my journaling, as well as the date these photos were taken.  My journaling reads, Over 80 people went down into the waters, @ HCC's Kill Creek Park baptisms, as powerful testimonies to what God has done & is doing in their lives.  August 26, 2012.  The card itself was backed with a Star Gazing Bookmark Pennant Card...
and embellished with a couple of floral die cuts, both of which were popped up with foam tape, from both the Time to Relax and At the Beach Die-Cuts packages; a Summer Time Flair Button; and an "unforgettable" Summer White Word Sticker.
The bottom, right quadrant highlights a large, scenery photo, backed with the Sunny Day and More Summer prints, both of which were secured with more gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  It was also grounded with a "happy times" At the Beach Die Cut, popped up with more foam tape.
The fourth and final quadrant houses a photo, backed with the Let's Get Lost and As Free As the Ocean prints, anchored with more stitching.
A couple torn edges, backed with the Salty but Sweet print, and a handful of Star Stickers complete the look.  Tip:  Top stickers with Glossy Accents, as I've done here, to give them the appearance of enamel dots/shapes.
Before I run, friends, I just wanted to remind you all that Pretty Little Studio's Sunny Memories Collection embellishments are 50% off until Saturday...
and don't forget to grab something special from the $1 Bin, while you're shopping.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by my little corner of the web!  Be blessed!

Pretty Little Studio: Summer Days

Wednesday, August 21, 2019

Hey, y'all!  I'm finally back to share a page, boasting lots of fabulous goodies from Pretty Little Studio's newest arrival, Chasing the Sun.  It happens to be up on the blog today; and I wanted to share it here, too.  Enjoy!
I started this page by trimming the left side of a 7-1/2" x 12" piece of textured, white cardstock with a 4-1/2" x 12" strip of the Waves print and securing them together with double, gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  They were then smudged with Patina and Stormy Night Glimmer Mists and splattered with those same Glimmer Mists, as well as Strawberry Cream Glimmer Mist; Sunshine Mister Huey's; Gold Color Shine; and Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paints.  Once everything was dry, I stacked my photos, vertically, over the machine stitching.  The smaller photos were framed with Photo Shoot Die Cuts.  The first was also embellished with a "good VIBES" Orange Soda Tag Die Cut, as well as a Watermelon Flair Button...
and the second was popped up with foam tape...
to the top left of a Sunkissed Pocket Card, which was used to house my journaling, which reads, We cannot get enough of our Mission Pool.  A quick dip is all we need to change the tone of a hot, summer day.
The journaling card itself was topped with Photo Shoot Die-Cut palms and flowers, popped up with foam tape and backed with a peach button, laced with white string...
and laid atop a couple of Orange Soda Die Cuts, one of which was laced with Baker's Twine, tied in a bow.  Another Orange Soda Die Cut was used to etch my 7.30.12 date.
The third and final photo was backed with a couple of the Chasing the Sun 6x6 Paper Pack prints, anchored with more gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching, as well as a bit of the fabulous Beach Palms Clear Rose Gold Metallic print...
and sandwiched between a combination of Photo Shoot and Fly a Kite Die Cuts, some of which were popped up with foam tape and embellished with Glossy Accents.
A couple of Photo Shoot Die-Cut words, popped up with more foam tape, complete the look.
Thanks, as always, for visiting!  Have a blessed rest of your week, friends!

Pretty Little Studio: HB to U

Monday, August 5, 2019

Morning, y'all, and welcome to the work week!  I'm not even sure how to begin this post after the kind of weekend we've had.  My heart is aching and unable to come to terms with the senseless acts of violence and cowardice we've witnessed both in Dayton, Ohio, and here in my home of El Paso, Texas.  We must keep reminding ourselves who's in charge and, ultimately, the only one worth living for.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?  Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident.  Psalm 27: 1, 3

I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?  What can mere mortals do to me?  Psalm 56:11

He will cover you with his wings.  Under the feathers of his wings you will find safety.  He is faithful.  He will keep you safe like a shield or a tower.  You won’t have to be afraid of the terrors that come during the night.  You won’t have to fear the arrows that come at you during the day.  You won’t have to be afraid of the sickness that attacks in the darkness.  You won’t have to fear the plague that destroys at noon.  A thousand may fall dead at your side.  Ten thousand may fall near your right hand.  But no harm will come to you.  Psalm 91:4-7

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those touched by these tragedies.

I was assigned to a project on the Pretty Little Studio blog this morning and created a trio of birthday minis, inspired by the new Document Life Collection, to share with you all.  Enjoy!
Let's get up close and personal.  Shall we?
I started this card by horizontally anchoring a 3" x 4" Highlights Pocket Card over a 4" x 6" Highlights Pocket Card with teal-threaded, straight, machine stitching and folding the result in half to create the 3" x 4" card base.  I then stapled a white, cardstock, open, star die cut to the card face and overlapping its top and right sides.  That created the foundation for my "HB to U" sentiment which was created with Coral Life Alpha Stickers and Fresh Mint Mini ABC Stickers and grounded with a Cork Here & There arrow...
overlapping a length of Baker's Twine, wrapped three times around the vertical length of the card face and tied in a bow.
A "put on your party hat!" Happy Day Color Sticker, anchored with a navy Star Sticker, backed with white cardstock; hand-cut out; popped up with foam tape; and coated with Glossy Accents, completes the look.
The second mini...
was created in nearly the exact same way as the first with the exception of the use of a couple of different 3" x 4" and 4" x 6" Highlights Pocket Cards, as well as Navy Life Alpha Stickers and Mini ABC Bohemian Yellow Stickers.
It was wrapped with that same delicious Baker's Twine for the texture that you all know I love so much...
and finished with an "it's your day" Happy Day Color Sticker and yellow Star Sticker, prepared in the same way as above.
The third and final card, too...
follows the same pattern of creation with the exception of the use of two different 3" x 4" and 4" x 6" Highlights Pocket Cards, as well as going back to the Coral Life Alpha Stickers and Fresh Mint Mini ABC Stickers used on the first mini.
A little more Baker's Twine, once again, wraps everything up with style...
and a "blow out the candles" Happy Day Color Sticker and aqua Star Sticker, prepared in the same way as above, complete the look.
Thanks so much for humbling me with a visit, friends!  Stay safe, and God bless!

For the Love of Books

Wednesday, July 31, 2019

Afternoon, book lovers!  Just stopping in to share a recent, library find for this month's For the Love of Books pick.  This one is close to my heart, because the author is a homeschool graduate; and I love the way that he's been able to capture the reality of sun-up to sun-down learning, in every part of his messy, but happy, home and beloved city, through language and colorful, hand-drawn illustrations.  This book is written for children ages three to six and being posted just in time for a little, back-to-school, reading enjoyment for all.
This Is My Home, This Is My School, written and illustrated by Jonathan Bean, reveals the comings and goings of a homeschool day in the life of a young boy and his classmate sisters, not to mention their teacher mother and substitute father (because sometimes mom just gets too tired and has to call in reinforcements).  Through a wide variety of learning environments, both inside and outside and at home and abroad, to the cafeteria, complete with a crabby, lunch lady, and giant, backyard playground, "no moment, whether at desk, dinner table, stream, play, or work, [is] too insignificant to be scavenged for something to learn."

Thanks so much for visiting!  We'll be hitting the books again the middle of next week, and I know many will follow soon thereafter.  So, may this school year, whether that means a traditional or nontraditional school environment for you and your loved ones, be your best one yet!
