Pretty Little Studio: Shine Bright Tags

Friday, May 31, 2019

Morning, y'all!  I trust you all have wonderful plans for the weekend.  My hubby and biggest kiddo have been in Juarez, Mexico, this week, building a home for a family in need; and they'll be home in just a few hours.  Woohoo!  They're bringing their whole team home, with them, for breakfast; so I've had my hands full getting things ready for them and minding my littles and am ever so ready just to let my hubby take over for a bit.  I need a bubble bath ;).  Without further adieu, I'm stopping in today to share a project that happens to be up on the Pretty Little Studio blog this morning.  Enjoy!
Using the largest Be Loved Shipping Tags, from the Shine Bright Collection, as a foundation, I created a quartet of beautiful tags.  I just love having these on hand to dress up simple packages or add a little happy to a home-baked treat.
I started this first tag by topping it with a secondary, smaller, horizontal Be Loved Shipping Tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow; topped with the Be Happy Words Clear Sticker "good things are about to HAPPEN" sentiment; and popped up with foam tape.  I then framed it with a trio of Simply Floral Die Cuts...
as well as a layered, Chasing Dreams Die-Cut butterfly, dressed up with a little Dazzling Diamonds.  A "sweetheart" Be Fabulous Sticker was tucked between the two butterflies' wings...
and a die-cut, vellum, tag topper, grounded with a die-cut, from a print in the 6x6 Paper Pack, ring and laced with white string, not to mention a trio of Rose Pink Sequins, complete the look.
I took the florals on the second tag to another level by adding lots more from the Simply Floral Die-Cuts package.
A few of them were popped up with foam tape and a few more were dressed with more Dazzling Diamonds just to add interest.  They all were topped with a Be Happy Words Clear Sticker "SHINE bright" sentiment, backed with white cardstock, hand-cut out, and popped up with foam tape.
A simple "be you" Be Fabulous Sticker...
and Chasing Dreams Die-Cut butterfly were tucked into portions of the happy bouquet; and another die-cut, tag topper, created in the same way as above, not to mention a trio of Rose Pink Sequins, completes the look.
On the third Be Loved Shipping Tag...
I used the "follow YOUR heart" sentiment as a shadow for a Be Happy Words Clear Sticker.
It was then anchored with a Chasing Dreams Die-Cut ribbon, topped with a Simply Floral Die-Cut heart, backed with foam tape, dressed up with Dazzling Diamonds, and used to anchor a couple of Be Fabulous Word Stickers.
In addition to the top, with its vellum topper; printed, 6x6 Paper Pack ring; and length of white string, being prepared in the same way as the previous two, I also dressed it up with a "HELLO lovely" Lovely Flair Button and Chasing Dreams Die-Cut butterfly, crowned with a die-cut, vellum butterfly and Rose Pink Sequin.  The latter of which happens to be only one of three scattered throughout the design.
I let the lines of the fourth and final Be Loved Shipping Tag dictate the placement of its embellishments.
A couple of Chasing Dreams Die-Cut feathers, dressed up with more of that delicious, Dazzling Diamonds shine; topped with a Chasing Dreams Die-Cut arrow; and anchored with a Lovely Flair Button, gets us started.
A "you make me happy" Be Happy Words Clear Sticker serves as my primary sentiment.  It was anchored with a couple of additional sentiments from the Be Fabulous Sticker package.
The tag was topped in the same way as the other three with the exception of the use of a different 6x6 Paper Pack print for the ring, and the same three Rose Pink Sequins complete the look.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by!  Have an amazing weekend, friends!

For the Love of Books

Thursday, May 30, 2019

Hey, y'all!  I meant to pop in here earlier today, as I'll be back early tomorrow morning to share a project for Pretty Little Studio; but alas, the best laid plans don't always work out.  So, anyhow, I'm here now to share a library book, that has recently captured my heart, for this month's For the Love of Books pick.  It is a vibrant story, written for children ages four to eight, about ignoring the haters and being true to exactly who God made you.
Marisol McDonald Doesn't Match, written by Monica Brown and illustrated by Sara Palacios, is the story of a fun, spunky, bilingual, Peruvian-Scottish-American, young lady who doesn't match.  She has brown skin and flaming red hair and loves to wear polka dots and stripes together.  Her peanut butter and jelly must be wrapped in a tortilla.  She likes to use a cursive and print combination to write her name and thinks playing soccer, as a pirate, is a great way to spend her recess.  More than a few people turn their noses up at Marisol's uniqueness; but when she tries to please her critics by matching, her usual exuberance for life is visibly lost from the colorful illustrations.  At the end of the day, Marisol discovers that being herself, mismatched and all, is simply marvelous and absolutely perfect.

Thanks so much for visiting, friends!  Happy reading!

Pretty Little Studio: Be Happy Live Happy

Monday, May 27, 2019

Morning, y'all!  Happy Memorial Day!  Just taking a break from all the outdoor activities to share a page inspired by the Shine Bright Collection.  It happens to be up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today.  Enjoy!
I started this page by smudging Patina Glimmer Mist near the center and radiating out toward the edges of the 12" x 12" textured, white, cardstock, base page.  I then added Titanium White acrylic paint, over a combination of True Blue and Paradise acrylic paints, in the same way, before splattering everything with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Once it was dry, I anchored patterned, paper strips, from the Shine Bright 6x6 Paper Pack, as well as the Carry On 8x8 print, horizontally, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching and stacked my photos, which were matted with white cardstock, vertically, near the center of the design.  A Be Loved Shipping Tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow, was tucked under the right side of the top photo...
and a duo of Simply Floral Die Cuts, topped with a Chasing Dreams Die-Cut "hello", were nestled behind and over the top right corner of the center photo.
A Chasing Dreams Die-Cut tassel trails from the cluster down the right side of the center photo...
and a Chasing Dreams Die-Cut square, filled in with a "LOVE you" Be Happy Words Clear Sticker, grounds the entire design.
Another Simply Floral Die-Cuts cluster dresses up the top left corner of the bottom photo.  Gosh, I could use these gorgeous blossoms all day!
I used a Happy 3x4 Pocket Card to highlight my journaling, which reads, Such sweet, treasured moments just enjoying a beautiful, fall day @ Deanna Rose.  I've missed Ezekiel & my frequent visits here together ever so much.
The framed space in the center of the pocket card was stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "SEP 10 2015" date.  A "MEMORIES" Hello There Word Flag and "BE HAPPY LIVE HAPPY" Park Bench Cut-Apart, which also serves as my subtle title, dresses up its bottom half...
and a cluster, which includes one last Simply Floral Die Cut, a Lovely Flair Button, and an April 2019 Freebie butterfly, crowns its top.  A scattering of Rose Pink Sequins completes the look.
Thanks so much for visiting!  Have an amazing week, friends!  And a HUGE thank you to all our troops, both past and present and at home and abroad, for sacrificing so much for our freedom and safety.  You will never be forgotten.  God bless!

Paper Sweeties May Release Rewind

Wednesday, May 15, 2019

Hey, y'all!  It's the third and final day of Paper Sweeties' May Release week; and before you're off to picking up some new goodies, if you haven't done so already, I'd love to share one last project with you all.
I started this card by masking and stamping the clouds, from Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and tree, from Home Is Where Your Story Begins, in Jet Black ink, on a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of watercolor paper.  I then watercolored the entire piece, along with additional strips of punched, grass, and added lots of Clear Wink of Stella to the clouds before securing everything, to a piece of Wisteria Wonder cardstock, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitching and popping it off the surface of the white, cardstock, card face with foam tape.
The camper image, from Truck Add-On: Life Is An Adventure, was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a piece of watercolor paper.  The design on the image came from the florals in Basket Add-On: Thinking of You and a bit of a tie-die, watercolor wash.  The remainder of the elements used to form the camper, which was hand-cut out and popped up, with foam tape, between the layers of watercolored grass, were die-cut, from cardstock and patterned prints respectively, using the Truck Add-On: Life Is An Adventure Sweet Cuts die.  A pretty, little package, watercolored in gold and doused in Clear Wink of Stella, was placed on the stoop of the camper.  The sign was stamped, in Crumb Cake ink, on a die cut, from woodgrain, patterned paper, using the Basket Add-On: Thinking of You Sweet Cuts die, and stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "#party" sentiment from Hugs & Kisses.
The balloon trio, also from Hugs & Kisses, was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on watercolor paper die cuts; watercolored; popped up, in their respective position, with more foam tape; and dressed up with lot of Clear Wink of Stella, as well as a little Glossy Accents, to complete the look.  Oh!  And I don't want to forget to mention that a number of the elements here looked a little too "fresh" or "bright" for my liking; so I brushed over them with a little, Titanium White, acrylic paint on a dry brush just to soften or distress them a bit.
Without further adieu, here are the fabulous newbies we've been talking about all week.  Just click on the images below to take you right to them.

There you have it, folks!  Thanks so much for stopping by and for supporting my creative adventures every step of the way.  This is my final project as a member of the Paper Sweeties Design Team.  I'm ever so grateful to have had the opportunity to serve on such a talented team and for such an extraordinary owner.  My heart is simply being pulled in a number of other directions that, at this time, happen to not be papercrafty in nature.  I promise to share what I can; but for privacy reasons, I simply won't be as active in many social avenues.  I'm not leaving entirely, though.  Creating is in my blood.  So, I will, no doubt, continue to be posting projects right here on my blog and trust that you will continue to follow along with wherever this life may take me.  Bye for now!  Thanks again, and be blessed!

Pretty Little Studio: Date Night

Morning, y'all!  It's been a long time; but I'm up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today, sharing a page inspired by Claudia vanRooijen's gorgeous, new collection, Shine Bright.  Enjoy!
I started this page by adding gesso to the Just Let Go 12x12 patterned paper background.  Once it was dry, I added puddles of three different colors of blue watercolor and used those same shades of blue watercolor, as well as pink watercolor and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints, to splatter over everything.  That set the stage for my triangles, which were Cameo-cut, using Kristine Davidson's It's Not a Circle cut file, from a collection of Shine Bright 6x6 Paper Pack prints and anchored with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.
They were then topped with my photo, which was matted with white cardstock; backed with a snippet of cheesecloth for that scrumptious texture you all know I love so much; and sandwiched between two clusters of Simply Floral Die Cuts.  The grouping to the bottom right of the photo also includes a camera (Gosh, I adore that gorgeous camera!  I need a dozen of them right now ;).), arrow, and tassel from the Chasing Dreams Die-Cut package, as well as a length of white string, tied in a bow, and a "date night" Sweetheart Mini Word, which happens to serve as my title.
The second, Simply Floral Die-Cut grouping additionally encompasses an April 2019 Freebie butterfly (I hope you scooped up one for yourself last month.) and a Lovely Flair Button.
One more Simply Floral Die-Cut, popped up with foam tape; a couple of Chasing Dreams Die-Cut triangles; a Silver Cut-Apart Label, used to house the place, Melting Pot, and day, February 5, 2016, that the photo was taken; and scattering of Crystal 4mm and Rose Pink Sequins complete the look.
Before I run, I also wanted to make you aware of a few great grabs happening this month over at Pretty Little Studio.  A FREE sheet of stickers will be added to carts containing the purchase of 10 individual sticker sheets.
It's Your Birthday Collection embellishments are 50% off throughout the month of May...
and while you're picking up some of those goodies, the May Cut-Apart Sheet Freebie will be added to your carts.
If your totals happen to contain $35 or more worth of products, the May Cloud Die-Cut Freebies will be added to your carts, too.  Woohoo!  LOVE these!
I think that covers things, for now, folks.  Thanks, as always, for visiting, and have a wonderful Wednesday!

Paper Sweeties May Release Party

Tuesday, May 14, 2019

Welcome, friends!  I promised to be back today with a project inspired by one of the new, Paper Sweeties, May Release, stamp sets, Truck Add-On: Life Is An Adventure; and I'm here now to deliver.  Enjoy!
I started this project by stamping the camper image, in Jet Black ink, on a white, cardstock die cut and paper-piecing all the colorful bits and baubles.  The little bird...
as well as the trees from Home Is Where Your Story Begins and Merry Christmas Y'all, were created in the exact same way as the camper itself.  Everything was then popped off a blue speckled print, which had been anchored, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitching, to the white, cardstock, card face, with foam tape.
The "You make me a HAPPY CAMPER" sentiment was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, just above the camper; and a length of Baker's Twine was wrapped, three times, around the top edge of the card and tied, in a bow, just to the right of the stamped sentiment, for a little extra texture.  A trio of silver stars and kisses of Glossy Accents, used throughout the design for shine and dimension, complete the look.
Thanks, once again, for visiting, y'all!  Be sure to do the same for the rest of this talented Design Team, and we'll all see you back, at the same time and places, for one final day of projects, inspired by the May Release, tomorrow.  Until then, have a wonderful Wednesday!

Paper Sweeties May Release Sneak Peek

Monday, May 13, 2019

Evening, y'all; and welcome to the work week!  I'm thrilled to be here today, sharing a project made for Paper Sweeties' May Release week.  Debbie has designed two new stamp sets, Basket Add-On: Thinking of You and Truck Add-On: Life Is An Adventure, and their coordinating dies to wet your creative appetites this month.  So, let's just jump right in to how Thinking of You inspired me.  Shall we?
I started this card by stamping a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of watercolor paper, in Antique Linen Distress Ink, with the gorgeous row of blossoms, masking and layer-stamping as I went.  I then watercolored the entire piece before topping it with a torn, across its bottom edge, strip of vellum, stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "Thinking of you" sentiment.
In turn, that torn and stamped piece of vellum was then topped with a strip of silver, glitter paper, as well as a stamped, in London Fog Distress Ink, with that same stunning row of blooms image, once again, masking and layer-stamping to complete an entire row, strip of Bordering Blue cardstock.
The entire prepped piece was then anchored, to a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of white cardstock, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  A length of white string was wrapped, three times, around the stitched piece, between the stamped, cardstock strip and the silver, glitter, paper strip and tied, in a bow, just right of vertical center.  Everything was then adhered, to the white, cardstock, card face, with foam tape.  A quartet of clear gemstones completes the look.
I'd love to have you join me again at the same time tomorrow to see how I was inspired by Life Is An Adventure.  Between now and then, please be sure to stop by and see what the rest of the team has cooked up for your viewing pleasure.  Thanks, as always, for humbling me with a visit, friends!  Be blessed!
