Hip Kit Club: Let's Bake Cookies

Thursday, December 19, 2019

Morning, y'all!  Before the week completely gets away from me, and my kiddos have me running them here and there and everywhere in celebration of them being on Christmas vacation, I wanted to sneak in here and share a page that I had up on the Hip Kit Club Facebook Page earlier this week.  My assignment was to use the Exclusive November Cut Files to document my favorite thing from the holiday season.  I was also to "add sparkle".  I tapped into the November Main Kit, Pocket Life Scrapbook Kit, Embellishment Kit, Color Kit, & Cardstock Kit and pulled a couple pictures of my big kiddos decorating Christmas cookies to get the job done.

Decorating cookies is a special, Christmas tradition in our house; but these particular pictures were taken at a time when my family was really struggling.  My hubby was living and working out of state and not home for most of Christmas day.  We had also just buried a pet that morning, not to mention that I was in the third trimester with Kaden; so I was pulling all the stops in an attempt to bring on the Christmas joy.  Check it out!
I started this page by adding a patch of white gesso to the 12" x 12" Deck the Halls print.  Once it was dry, I added puddles of color using Lindy's Oom Pah Pah Pink and Cuckoo Clock Cardinal Magical Shakers.  I splattered the design with those same colors.  I then Cameo-cut the Star Wreath from textured, white cardstock and paper-pieced its back with both sides of the Fa La La print, the Silent Night print, and vellum.  Once it was adhered in place, I splattered the entire design, once again, but this time with Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paints.
My photos were then matted with white cardstock; backed with a snippet of cheesecloth for texture; and topped with the "Let's bake cookies" title, which was Cameo-cut, using the Cookies + Candy cut file, from textured, red cardstock.  The title itself was anchored with a "JOY" Leatherette Sticker, embellished with a Mixed Die-Cut holly; wood veneer holly; and a length of Baker's Twine, tied in a bow.
The far left photo was embellished with a cluster of goodies, including a trio of Floral Die Cuts; a couple of branches, as well as a cookie jar, from the Die-Cut Stickers package; a cupcake Mixed Die Cut, popped up with foam tape; Leatherette Sticker heart...
Chipboard Sticker mouse; and two more wood veneer hollies.
A simple "SWEET TREATS" Leatherette Sticker; lots of glitter to check off that "add sparkle" assignment mentioned above; quartet of Die-Cut and Leatherette Sticker peppermints; and scattering of Puffy Sticker Shapes dots, including the larger "HOLLY JOLLY" one pictured above, complete the look.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed rest of your weeks, friends!
