Pretty Little Studio: Happy New Year

Tuesday, January 7, 2020

Morning, y'all!  We were back to the books and work yesterday, after a wonderful, Christmas vacation, in my neck of the woods; but before we get too deep into reality again, I wanted to stop in to share a fun, new page, inspired by the Glitter & Ice Collection and which happens to be up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today.  Check it out!
I started this page by adding puddles of aqua and blue watercolors to the 12" x 12" watercolor, paper, base page.  I then smudged white ink through a snowflake stencil, for a subtle bit of texture, before splattering it with the same shades of watercolor used above, as well as lime green and red-orange watercolors and Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paints.  Once it was dry, I scattered a quartet of die-cut, from textured, white cardstock, Laurette Snowflakes throughout the design.  That set the stage for my photos, which were all matted with white cardstock and arranged in a messy, grid design.  The bottom, right quadrant grounds the design and houses a "Time to Shine" Sparkle Bright Journaling Card, anchored with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching...
and embellished with a couple of die-cut, from white cardstock, Swaying Birches; duo of Fir Tree Die Cuts; and pair of Happy Season Die-Cut friends, popped up with foam tape.
Another of those die-cut Swaying Birches and three more of those Fir Tree Die Cuts, as well as a Sparkle Silver Tags Die-Cut tree and squirrel, carry over to the left side of the design; where my photo was backed with scraps of the New Years and Fronds prints, both of which were anchored with more silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching, as well as a snippet of cheesecloth for texture, and sandwiched between a snipped in half, in order to extend its reach, Warm Wishes Die-Cut pennant.
The top, left photo was backed with bits of the Tangerine Snow and Glitter Ice prints, anchored with more silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching and embellished with a Warm Wishes Die-Cut tab...
trio of 'Tis the Season Die-Cut and Oh What Fun Sticker phrases; and Silver Lining Tag, laced with Baker's Twine.
Another length of Baker's Twine was wrapped around the photo in fourth and final quadrant and tied, in a bow, to its right edge.  It was further backed with a bit of the Warm Wishes print, secured with even more of those silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches, and embellished with a Happy Season Die-Cut, circle snowflake; "baby it's cold outside", circle Sparkle Silver Tags Die Cut, popped up with foam tape...
and Sparkle Season Flair Button.
A scattering of Sparkle Silver Tags Die-Cut snowflakes, some of which were popped up with foam tape, and a Twinkle Lights Word Die-Cut, "Happy New Year" title complete the look.
Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a great week, friends!
