Pretty Little Studio: Let It Snow

Saturday, October 24, 2020

Welcome to the weekend, y'all!  Just stopping in to share my most recent, papercraft project, which happened to have been up on the Pretty Little Studio blog earlier this week.  Enjoy!

I started this page by adding puddles of blue and pink watercolors to the 12" x 12" watercolor paper, background page.  I then splattered it with those same colors before stamping a couple of different sizes of snowflakes, from the Glitter & Ice: Be Merry Clear Stamp set, in Bashful Blue and Jet Black inks, throughout the design.  I then splattered everything once again but this time with Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paints.  Once everything was dry, I hand-cut the pennants from the Wonderland: Warm Scarf 8" square print and anchored them, in the way you see above and covering the right half of my page, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  My photos, as well as the bottom, "at home chilling out" portion of a Wonderland: Chill Out Journaling Card, were then framed with Wonderland: Flurries Die-Cut Frames and positioned in a cluster just below the vertical center of the page.  The bottom portion of the Wonderland: Chill Out Journaling Card was also topped with a Winter Joy: Snow & Hot Cocoa Die-Cut "blessed"...

and its top portion was hand-cut out into three, individual houses, grouped to either side of the photo cluster.  The right-side grouping also includes a Glitter & Ice: Fir Tree Die Cut, as well as a Tinsel Town: Noel Frames + Extra Die Cut and that adorable Dot #2 Vintage Die Cut.  The latter two were popped up with foam tape for added interest and dimension.

The left-side grouping, additionally, includes a Glitter & Ice: Fir Tree Die Cut and two Tinsel Town: Noel Frames + Extra Die Cuts, the latter of which were popped up with foam tape, layered over Christmas Joy: Joy Die-Cut and Glitter & Ice: Silver Lining Die-Cut tags, both of which were laced with white string, tied in bows.

A couple of Glitter & Ice: Oh What Fun phrase stickers and the "Let It Snow", Wonderland: Winter Mini Word title, popped up with foam tape, not to mention a sweet, little, Home for Christmas: Happy Memories Die-Cut cardinal, crown my design.

A trio of Home for Christmas: Vellum Snowflake Die Cuts, as well as a duo of Winter Joy: Snow & Hot Cocoa Die Cuts, popped up with foam tape, and a little journaling, complete the look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

PLS: EPISD Marching Contest

Friday, October 9, 2020

Hey, y'all!  Just stopping in, before the weekend gets busy, to bring you all a project that happens to have been up on the Pretty Little Studio blog earlier this week.  It was inspired by all the fall goodies that I still had lying out on my work table from our fun week of fall projects last month.  I love fall!  Check it out!

I started this page by smearing clear gesso over the Christmas Joy: Dear Santa 12x12 background print.  This is my first time using clear versus white gesso; and while I like its clear quality, I really don't like its grainy texture.  Maybe I'm not using the right brand?  I purchased Liquitex Professional on Amazon.  Please leave me a comment below if you know of or use a smoother brand, and thanks in advance!  Once it was dry, I added puddles of yellow and red watercolor across the background.  I then splattered it with those same shades of watercolor, as well as teal watercolor and Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paints.  The largest photo, which was matted with white cardstock, was set atop a bed of Feels Like Fall prints, including Feeling Adventurous, Feeling Refreshed, and Feeling Thoughtful, all three of which were anchored with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching, as well as a folded sheet of Feels Like Fall: Feeling Warm Gold Metallic Vellum.  The remaining photos, which were also matted with white cardstock, were added vertically below the largest.  One of those three was wrapped, three times, with a length of Baker's Twine, tied in a bow, and popped up with foam tape.  All four photos were then anchored with a collection of October 2019 Freebie, circle die cuts, some of which were popped up with foam tape; Wish You Were Here: Destination Star Die Cuts...

and Document Life: Star Stickers, some of which were backed with white cardstock, hand-cut out, and popped up with more foam tape.  An "everyday life" Feels Like Fall: Blue Fall Word Sticker...

and "HIGH LIGHT" Document Life: Insta-Worthy Flair Button...

turn out attention to the "EPISD Marching Contest" title, which was created from Here Comes the Sun: Gold Metallic A to Z Die Cuts, topped with a Feels Like Fall: Fall Phrases Die-Cut "good stuff", popped up with foam tape, and Feels Like Fall: Cozy White Mini ABC Stickers.  A "HOME SWEET HOME" Indian Summer: Goodbye Summer Die Cut tops the title itself.  I also tucked in the hand-written October 5, 2019, date, as well as a little journaling on the opposite side of the page, to complete the look.

Thanks, as always, for humbling me with a visit!  Have a wonderful weekend and a blessed October, friends!
