Pretty Little Studio: Merry Everything

Monday, December 28, 2020

Merry Monday, y'all!  I trust you all had a blessed Christmas!  We're still enjoying a little break from school this week and getting ready to usher in 2021.  Gosh, I pray that it is full of so much more freedom and joy than 2020 has delivered.  Anyhow, I'm stopping in today to share my latest, Pretty Little Studio project, which happens to have been inspired by the newest collection, Christmas Cheer.  Friends, I cannot put this collection down; so, just be prepared for lots more to come in the new year.  Without further adieu, enjoy!

I started this page by splattering the Boughs of Holly background page with Titanium White, acrylic paint.  While it was drying, I used Stocking Stuffer Die-Cut flags and tiny, scalloped borders to create ornament toppers for my Cameo-cut photos, which were also matted with white cardstock.

I then tucked layered, Joyous Word Die-Cut branches; die-cut, from white cardstock, mistletoe sprigs; and stamped, in Lucky Limeade ink, on white cardstock, and hand-cut pine bits in behind the ornament tops with lengths of Baker's Twine, tied in bows.

This top-most ornament was also dressed up with a Stocking Stuffer, "love this day with you", phrase die cut and popped up with foam tape.

Another Stocking Stuffer, "magic in the air," phrase die cut tops the Joyous Word Die-Cut, "MERRY everything" title.

The dotted-line hanging the star on the original, background page inspired black-threaded, straight, machine stitches to hang all of my ornaments and lots more stars.  Most of those stars came from the Kris Kringle Die Cuts package and were popped up with more foam tape.

However, a few were stamped, in Marina Mist and Pretty in Pink inks, on white cardstock and hand-cut out.

All of the stars, with the exception of this sweet, little, stamped, in Jet Black ink, star outline, were covered with an extra-fine, glitter detail; and the berries were coated in Glossy Accents to add more texture and shine and complete the look.

Thanks so much for visiting, friends!  Have a safe and blessed New Year!  XOXO

Merry Christmas!

Friday, December 25, 2020

From my family to yours, Merry Christmas!  And may you always remember the true reason for the season.  Blessings!

And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.  This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.  So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.  So it was, that while they were there the days were completed for her to be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.  Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this will be the sign to you:  You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger."

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us."  And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.  Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning the Child.  And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.  But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.  Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them. - Luke 2:1-20

Pretty Little Studio: Advent Calendar

Sunday, December 13, 2020

Happy Sunday, y'all!  I'm just stopping in today to share a project that I had up on the Pretty Little Studio blog late last week.  I was inspired by a single package of the Christmas Cheer: Countdown Die-Cut Tags to create an advent calendar.  Check it out!

I started this project by spray-painting a kraft-colored, advent calendar, that I purchased from Hobby Lobby, inside and out, in white.  I then die-cut half circles, to match the tops of the calendar drawers themselves, in the tops of each of the tags.  Once everything was secure, I splattered the drawers with Titanium White, acrylic paint.  Then, once everything was dry and although it is difficult to tell here, I added lots of extra details with glitter for snow and fluffy trims...

Glossy Accents for eyes, noses, mouths, berries, buttons, and bells...

and Baker's Twine bows throughout.

A couple, layered, wire-rimmed bows top the calendar and complete the look.

I hope my project inspires you to create a little something festive for your own Christmas celebrations.  Thanks so much for visiting, friends!  Have a blessed season!
