PLS: Tis the Season Mini

Saturday, January 30, 2021

Welcome to the weekend, y’all!  I was up on the Pretty Little Studio blog earlier this week, sharing a mini album, inspired by our newest collection, Christmas Cheer.  I’d love to take today to share it right here, too.  For a number of reasons, I rarely do mini albums; but recently, I have begun incorporating some of the precious messages, that my family receives over the holidays, into them.  I haven’t yet taken my 2020 cards off display; so, I decided to go back and organize our cards from 2019 for today's mini.  Keep in mind, this little book is not an exhaustive collection; however, it does house most of the photos we were sent, as well as some of my favorite cards, which includes all of the beautiful, handmade cards we received.  So, without further adieu, let's just jump right in.  Shall we?
The front cover of my 6" x 8" album was covered with an 8" x 10" piece of the Joyful print.  It was cut two inches larger than the front, cardboard panel itself in order to give myself enough extra to fold onto the inside, which I'll get to in just a moment.  I then dressed it up with a Merry & Bright Frame Die-Cut deer and two layered Made a List Journal Pocket Cards, one of which was hand-cut around the black, gingham tab found at its top edge.  That same tab was dressed up with a “TWENTY-FIVE” The Merriest White Word Sticker and had a wax envelope…
stuffed with a “Have A Holly Jolly Christmas” Holly Jolly Tag Die Cut, punched with a hole and laced with Baker’s Twine, tied in a bow, tucked in behind it.
A Holly Jolly Tag Die-Cut tab, filled in with a “CHRISTMAS CHEER” The Merriest White Word Sticker, was then tucked under the combined right edge of the pocket cards.  The Santa, on the topmost, pocket card, was dazzled with a fine, white glitter and topped with both a Merry & Bright Frame Die-Cut package stack, popped up with foam tape, and a “LOVE Christmas” Much Joy Flair Button.
Nutcracker Number Polka Die Cuts create the “19” to reference the year these cards were gifted; and a Tis the Season Word Die Cut, popped up with foam tape, grounds the design.  A scattering of Tis the Season Word and Star Bright Vellum Die-Cut, as well as Christmas Cheer Sequin Mix, stars, some of which were popped up with foam tape, complete the look…
and turn our attention to the inside of the book, where I used a 5-3/4" x 7-3/4" piece of the Cozy Blanket print to tuck away all the folded, Joyful ends.
The inside cover was further embellished with another Made a List Journal Pocket Card, dressed up, in the same way as above, with a fine, white glitter.  In addition to the scattering of Tis the Season Word and Star Bright Vellum Die-Cut, as well as Christmas Cheer Sequin Mix, stars, “Santa BABY”…
and “HAND DELIVERED BY” Holly Jolly Tag Die Cuts were popped up, with foam tape, over the top, left edge and right side of the pocket card respectively.  The latter was also laced with Baker’s Twine, tied in a bow.
All the folded ends of the back panel of the book were covered with a 5-3/4" x 7-3/4" piece of the A Star Tonight print.
I covered the back panel with more of the same Joyful print found on the front cover.  Obviously, everything was hole-punched in order to tie it all together with metal, office rings; but the front and back covers' holes were extra reinforced with Jumbo pewter eyelets.  Lots of fabulous ribbons and trims, all of which came straight from my scrap basket, I might add, as well as a “HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE Christmas” Joyous Word Die Cut, topped with an Animal Christmas Die Cut, dressed up with more of that fine, white glitter, complete the look.
I didn’t tuck any additional memories into the pages of this book, as I have in years past.  It just seemed like there wasn’t anything “extra” to add, beyond my 2019 scrapbook pages, this go around.  Thanks so much for visiting, friends!  Have a blessed weekend!

PLS: My Favorite 2020 Collection

Saturday, January 16, 2021

Morning, y'all!  And welcome to the weekend!  We've been reminiscing, over at Pretty Little Studio, about our favorite collections from 2020; and while I feel like I've only just begun to tap into the potential of this collection, I was up on the blog earlier this week, sharing that, hands-down, mine is Christmas Cheer.

I love the happy Santas and darling critters, as well as the versatility of the black and white elements with the bright, happy colors.  I also adore the playful fonts and phrases and big, bold numbers and feel like the plethora of hearts in this collection naturally lend themselves to the transition in winter holidays and get me excited about continuing to use it throughout the coming months.

Here are just a couple more projects that I've designed with this collection.  All images are linked to their original post for closeup photographs, as well as supplies used and all the details in their making.  Just click away.

I've also made a couple of cards to share with you all today; but stay tuned, because I have a bigger, Christmas Cheer project coming later this month.

Let's get a little up close and personal.  Shall we?

I started this card by anchoring a piece of The Merriest Lime print, to the white, cardstock, card face, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then secured a Holly Jolly Tag Die-Cut tab, which houses The Merriest White Word Sticker "SEASON'S GREETINGS", to the left side of a Made a List Journal Pocket Card...

and a Holly Jolly Tag Die-Cut, "from Santa" pennant to its bottom right with more silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches, running around the entire perimeter of the pocket card.

It was then popped off the surface of the card face and over a nest of cheesecloth with foam tape and further embellished with a Kris Kringle Die Cut, tucked under the "from Santa" pennant and also popped up with foam tape...

as well as a hand-made banner.  The banner itself completes the look and was created by punching holes in Claus Tags & Flags pennants; lacing them with a length of Baker's Twine; and popping them up, across the top of the card face, with foam tape.

For the second card, I anchored a piece of the Stick Candy Licorice print, to the surface of the white, cardstock, card face, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.

I then secured a Holly Jolly Tag Die Cut, dressed up with the "MAGIC IS IN THE AIR" and "BEST TIME OF THE YEAR" The Merriest White Word Stickers, to the top right edge of a Made a List Journal Pocket Card, with more silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching, framing the pocket card itself.

Before popping it off the surface of the card face and over a bed of cheesecloth with foam tape, I wrapped it, three times, with a length of Baker's Twine, tied, in a bow, to the bottom right edge of the pocket card.  My favorite, Kris Kringle Die Cut, popped up, with foam tape, near the base of the card and just to the left of the Baker's Twine bow, completes the look.

Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a blessed 2021, friends!

2020 Year In Review

Tuesday, January 5, 2021

Just stopping in, on this beautiful, sunny Tuesday, with a little, creative inspiration to start the New Year off right.  I'm continuing with the ease of combining all of my projects into one deliciously-paper-crafted post again this year.  However, for the sake of creating a single, simple photo to share across social media, I've narrowed this year's faves down to nine.  Each photograph is linked to its original post, in calendar order of when the posts were written (I might add.), for all the details and supplies in its making.  So, just sit back, and enjoy!  And if you want to get a little more up-close-and-personal, feel free to click away.

As far as creative outlets go for me, 2020 has lived up to its name; but some of the opportunities, that I've been given in the past, haven't been what I dreamed they would've been, either.  So, maybe the good Lord is sparing me from more heartache and wasted time.  Regardless, as time permits, I'm going to keep doing what I love.  Thank you so much for supporting all of my creative adventures in your own unique ways.  It just wouldn't be the same around here without you, and I'd love for you to stick around to see what this new year holds.  Have a wonderful week, friends!  XOXO
